The Women’s Cooperative in Rwanda that make superb coffee. (on sale here!)
We are very happy to add this coffee to our portfolio. This coffee is produced by a co-operative called KCRS that was created and is organised by Women of Rwanda. They are based in the Rulindo district of North Rwanda, a region of sloping mountains and a huge lake. The region’s 100%-85% female run coffee farms use the Kinini Coffee washing station that was set up by a charity in 2008 and is an essential part of the local industry.
The KCRS (Cooperative Coffee Rusiga Sector) Women’s Co-operative and the coffee that they produce are a success story for a community that suffered so dreadfully in the early 1990’s. KCRS is part of Rwanda’s re-building post genocide.
The coffee that KCRS produce is very well received in the industry and highly respected and that is enough for us to enjoy it. But we also note a profound respect for the Growers.
